Huzzah!! Fresh from PAX East, Capcom have announced today that there’s a special, familiar game on the way – a remastered version of the NES classic DuckTales.
Harking from an era where gameplay was king, DuckTales was a classic platformer with the usual Capcom twists and personal touches. It offered non-linear level choices and, alongside Megaman and Bionic Commando, is held to be one of the best titles to come to the NES from the Capcom stable.
This iteration will boast remastered graphics and sound, tweaks to levels and new hidden areas, and even is being converted to a 2.5D platformer (2D movement in the foreground with the illusion of depth portrayed in the background – like Rayman Origins).
Coming to the XBLA sometime in Winter 2013, it’s priced at 1200 MSpoints – but (unlike Tim Schafer) I’m so excited I don’t know if I can wait that long!! After the theme song conjuring up a heap of childhood memories, you’ll probably agree with me… “Every day they’re out there making DuckTales… WOO-HO!!”
So what’s your thoughts? Excited? And what other retro titles would you like to see lovingly restored?
