It’s time now to take it Safari Style

It’s that exciting time again and four years have passed since our last visit to Germany in 2006 for the last World Cup. The largest sporting event is back now set in South Africa which has 199 national soccer teams competing all for glory. With 10 official Fifa World Cup stadiums to play on, this authentic game will give you the choice to start from the beginning of qualifier’s right to the end of World Cup Final’s. This exclusive title by EA gives you the chance to rewrite your own history and make your dreams of World Cup success as close to reality with exciting and fun to play soccer.

Goalies use special helium shoes to reach up high

The game itself is smooth flowing and quite a treat to play. Whilst playing in a match it feel’s very much as you are placed under the same conditions as your soccer heroes, as you face the same conditions as they will in real time action. Your journey begins in the group stage then through to the knockout round’s as you will compete right to the end for the Golden Cup. You have the choice of playing in two main modes, tournament mode or going into qualifying mode in which the games will be updated according to the same match’s played during the tournament. Another addition to the gameplay is ‘Captain Your Nation’ mode as you are placed as a professional player chosen out of the many or created into a nation of your choice. You are then sent out to play friendly games as your player gains experience leading towards the upcoming months for the World Cup. With every win come reward’s in which you can earn individual and team points to prove your nation is the best in the world.

The Visual quality within the game is another gold mine you will appreciate with full high definition graphics and cinematic cut scenes. From even the beginning as you access the games unique style menu, which glistens in your eyes. The visual detail whilst playing the game reward’s you with more eye candy as your team runs out in front of thousands of screaming fans all wearing their nations jerseys. Streamers are also falling in mid air as the players run onto the field adding to the atmosphere coming from the highly detailed stadiums, which are modeled to look like the exact same ones standing in South Africa. The detail of players has improved vastly as each of your players seem to come to life in your very own television sets with highly detailed faces added to your player as there is a close up shot of him as he celebrates scoring a goal in front of screaming fans.

It’s a shame all that toilet paper was wasted

Hearing the roar of the crowd as they chant to your countries anthem is nothing more than clarity you can only find sitting in the stadium next to thousands of fans. The commentary has never sounded so precise with possibly an update from the actual real life tournament. The sounds on the field are just as crisp with sound effects added to even the smallest detail as the ball skims across the back of the net and the thud you can hear as the ball hits the goal posts.

If you’ve mastered playing in the highest difficulty you can then take it up playing with or against your buddies. You also have the option of playing in co-op set for 1-4 players. With a new addition of playing the new 2010 Fifa World Cup Online tournament you get to compete with one of your chosen nations as you experience playing through the group stages followed by the knockout rounds right to the World Cup Final’s. This extra feature can also earn you individual and team points as you prove to everybody on the Xbox Live leader boards that your nation is the best. Training can also help you gain that bit of extra experience you may be lacking in the beginning, with numerous practice modes such as penalty shootout’s, setting up set pieces and practice match’s. Team management is also an extra addition to the game with the choice of editing your formations, custom tactics, quick tactics and even player roles. The game sets you right up in world cup fever with story of qualifying which will update you on events that actually take place in June that you get to play. Another nice feature is story of the finals with the commencement of the tournament new scenarios based on matches are created and downloadable for you to play and enjoy.

Player’s get to strut their stuff

2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa is a title worth buying for not only soccer fans but for all looking to relive the experience of soccer fever to come in June. This game definitely stands on its own even with Electronic Art’s having released Fifa 2010 earlier during the year. The extra detail focused on setting you up in the atmosphere of the World Cup with high definition graphics, sound and extra features have you constantly reminded that you are competing for the best tournament in the world. A few set backs though do happen to rarely bring you frustrated with lag time by player’s on your side along with some slow loading times. Extra customization would have been the cherry on the cake but overall this game is absolutely brilliant and definitely earns its spot as one of the best sport titles released this year.
